There are many people within and outside of Scientology who have heard of David Miscavige. They have heard of instances of his cruelty etc. leaving them with a possibly confused and puzzled idea of the man. They may also be left with the question "What on earth is going on there?".

This is the book for them to read. David Miscavige's father, Ron Miscavige, describes his relationship with his son and his experiences working under his son, from the time he first saw David carried by a nurse from the delivery room, through bringing up David and David's brother and sister, and the family's introduction to Scientology and early experiences there, to working under David in Scientology's Sea OrgAbbreviation for Sea Organization. (Modern Management Technology Defined (C) 1976). in Scientology's large Flag Land Base, and escaping from the Sea OrgAbbreviation for Sea Organization. (Modern Management Technology Defined (C) 1976). and then being followed by private investigators under orders from his own son. While not giving a full answer to what might be termed a complicated psychological problema problem is postulate-counter-postulate, terminal-counter-terminal, force-counter-force. It’s one thing versus another thing. You’ve got two forces or two ideas which are interlocked of comparable magnitude and the thing stops right there. All right, now with these two things one stuck against the other you get a sort of a timelessness, it floats in time. (SH Spec 82, 6111C21) 2 . a problem is a postulate-counter-postulate resulting in indecision. That is the first manifestation of problems, and the first consequence of a problem is indecision. (SH Spec 27, 6107C11) 3 . a multiple confusion. (SH Spec 26X, 6107C03) 4 . an intention counter-intention that worries the preclear. (HCOB 23 Feb 61) 5 . a problem is the conflict arising from two opposing intentions. A present time problem is one that exists in present time, in a real universe. (HCOB 3 Jul 59) 6 . something which is persisting, the as-is-ness of which cannot be attained easily. (PRO 16, 5408CM20), this does give an overview of the whole of his life (from his father's viewpoint) and an explanation of the present state of the Church of Scientology.

For those who are not familiar with Scientology terminology, Ron Miscavige gives short but adequate explanations of technical and slang words used.

The book lacks an index.

At the end seven books are recommended for reading, the first three of them being Scientology books. To get a further viewpoint on the situation for those interested in the comparison, the short description of how L. Ron Hubbard was around 1964 to 1967 could also be recommended. It is a four page article by Ron's butler/valet at the time, Ken Urquhart, and is available on the Internet (for free) at the following link: http://articles.ivymag.org/pdf/ivy02.pdf , go to page 13.
