Dedication to Mary Sue Hubbard and references to Scientology 8-8008 do NOT appear in 2007 version. Unless indicated otherwise, nearly all of the alterations identified in this report are in fact reversals to how it was in the first edition. Why exactly this was done in 2007 edition is quite unclear, and the text was already this way in 1988 edition. If Ron Hubbard wanted subsequent editions of this book to be updated with latest discoveries at the time, why change it back to how it was in the first edition? | Dedication to Mary Sue Hubbard and references to Scientology 8-8008 do NOT appear in 2007 version. L Ron Hubbard's Dianetics1. DIA (Greek) through, NOUS (Greek) mind, deals with a system of mental image pictures in relation to psychic (spiritual) trauma. The mental image pictures are believed on the basis of personal revelation to be comprising mental activity created and formed by the spirit, and not by the body or brain. (BPL 24 Sept 73 V) 2. Dn addresses the body. Thus Dn is used to knock out and erase illnesses, unwanted sensations, misemotion, somatics, pain, etc. Dn came before Scn. It disposed of body illness and the difficulties a thetan was having with his body. (HCOB 22 Apr 69)...more
and Scientology books have been altered from his original writings and publications, and not for the better - the proof is in this and related articles attached.
The second edition – 1961 – was also available for this review and was found to be basically the same as 1976 printing used in this report.
The very first – 1952 – edition of the book became available for this review and will be referred to throughout this report.
The first edition (1988) copyrighted under "L. Ron Hubbard Library" was also available [ISBN: 0-88404-306-1].
Unlike Fundamentals of Thought and many other basic books, A History of Man was mainly meant for auditors and was initially released as a limited manuscript titled WHAT TO AUDIT. All the previous editions had a disclaimer on the first page stating this fact. The 2007 edition is missing this disclaimer.
There is a NOTE [1] in The Technical Bulletins of Dianetics1. (BPL 24 Sept 73 V) 2. and Scientology Volume I , page 266 (1st Edition, 1976) on A History of Man:
| “A History of Man, originally titled What to Audit, is dedicated to Mary Sue Hubbard who helped Ron do the research at Wichita in late 1951, and at Phoenix in 1952. …
A later edition made a few revisions and added in references to Scientology 8-8008, and in some cases substituted “8-8008” for “Technique 88.” ...” |
If Ron Hubbard wanted subsequent editions of this book to be updated with latest discoveries at the time, whyThat basic outness found which will lead to a recovery of stats. (HCO PL 13 Oct 70 II)
change it back to how it was in the first edition?
Note! Bold formatting in citations was added to highlight key areas of alteration. Square brackets - [ ] - are used to insert notes where needed.
Note, chapters did not have titles in 1968 edition.
