League of Extraordinary Theta hackerS

LETS-1.jpg

defs

  • hacker 1 - hacker is a person who enjoys exploring the limits of what is possible, in a spirit of playful cleverness[1]
  • hacker 2 - A hacker is one who enjoys the intellectual challenge of creatively overcoming and circumventing limitations of programming systems and who tries to extend their capabilities. [2]
  • hacker 3 - a hacker is someone who seeks and exploits weaknesses in a computer system or computer network.[3]

We're using definitions 1 & 2 for our purposes

LETS what?

The League of Extraordinary Theta1. theta is thought, life force, elan vital, the spirit, the soul, or any other of the numerous definitions it has had for some thousands of years. (SOS, p. 4)...More hackerS is an initiative to bring together a wide variety of people with varying Internet and computer skills (ranging from novice/interested in learning, to professional level techAbbreviation for technology. The methods of application of an art or science as opposed to mere knowledge of the science or art itself. (HCOB 13 Sep 65) guru types) for a common purpose - i.e. create technologyThe methods of application of an art or science as opposed to mere knowledge of the science or art itself. (HCOB 13 Sep 65) ''Abbr.'' tech applications for broad-scale use by Scientologists and interested individuals.

Without a central organization/institution for the Field to rely on to furnish opportunities to train, auditThe application of Scientology processes and procedures to someone by a trained auditor. (Dianetics & Scientology Technical Dictionary (C) 1975), learn, share and embrace the subject of Scientology - we find ourselves using a hodgepodge of blogs, websites and social media.

Although these provide manyt avenues for sharing information, the fact is, we can do a whole lot more with existing technologies than we are. (such as videos, online training, online training curriculum's, web broadcasting, techAbbreviation for technology. The methods of application of an art or science as opposed to mere knowledge of the science or art itself. (HCOB 13 Sep 65) compilations, histories, biographies, new e-meter2. Hubbard Electrometer. An electronic instrument for measuring mental state and change of state in individuals, as an aid to precision and speed in auditing. The E-meter is not intended or effective for the diagnosis, treatment or prevention of any disease. (Scn AD)...more technologies...to name just a few areas of need)

Many people have skills in various facets of today's technologies but they are not currently being utilized or allowed to contribute due simply to a lack of coordination.

institutions

The Central Org (institutional) model for organizing things is unworkable for our situation. Even if we could come to agreement on an "Executive Director" and various other staffing positions to follow the LRHL. Ron Hubbard policies he created for his institutions, it would be an effort that was doomed from the start due to the diverse and diffuse nature of the "Field".

The rigid institutional construct would not serve our purposes for another important reason, one that many modern corporations and institutions are coming to grips with as well, namely - too many people are excluded from contributing due to the fact they find themselves outside, not part of, separate from the institutional body. The institution has to rely on the work of those who are part of the institution and despite effort to include people from the outside, those people will always consider themselves to be outside the institutional framework. (and so will the institutional team members whether they overtly admit it or not)

“And I believe the freedom of the material which we know and understand is guaranteed only by lightness of organization, a maximum of people, good training and good, reliable, sound relay of information.[4]

ya but...how do we do that?

Simple - we start by using a very common tool for bringing people together in one virtual location via the Internet.

The Webinar "Web conferencing refers to a service that allows conferencing events to be shared with remote locations. These are sometimes referred to as webinars or, for interactive conferences, online workshops. In general, the service is made possible by Internet technologies."[5]

We can set up a webinar to start this whole thing off - In fact, one in already scheduled:

LETS webinar June 1 2014

who's running this thing?

Scientolipedia.org is Hosting this initiative in the hope it will become a sort of incubation activity for ever greater involvement and applications. It is hoped we will identify people with interests in or expertise in various projects and the "LETS" umbrella concept will spawn projects and activities. Those who want to coordinate and relay information about the activities which spring from this effort will emerge and be encouraged.

One example of what me might accomplish with the first webinar is the choice of software for the webinar itself. (it's likely someone among us has experience with this type of software and we can improve the format)

We'll also put on some demonstrations of practical web and Internet helpful tips.

The primary agenda however, is to create a starting point and offer a virtual structure for us to coordinate from.

This seems to be something needed and wanted and maybe if we take a lighthearted and collaborative approach, some of the problems facing the Field can be addressed.

We'll see.

so what do I do?

Plan to attend the webinar and spread the word to get others to attend as well.

As mentioned above, this is not exclusive to people who already have a high level of technological skill.

Bring your willingness to learn and your interest in "exploring the limits of what is possible, in a spirit of playful cleverness", and we'll dub you an official "LETS" hacker.

We used to say if "Scientology isn't fun, it isn't Scientology".

Lets embrace the nerd in us all, have some fun and do some good in the process.

Discussion

The Discussion Forum for this project is located from the "Discussion" tab at the top of this page or by clicking the link.

It's important we keep a record of questions, answers, tips and ideas concerning this project. The Discussion feature built into this site allows for very robust communication1. the consideration and action of impelling an impulse or particle from source point across a distance to receipt point with the intention of bringing into being at the receipt point a duplication and understanding of that which emanated from the source point. (HCOB 5 Apr 73)...more and relay of information.
