In the first three decades of Scientology there were few books written by others than L. Ron Hubbard. It tended to be frowned upon and at a certain point what was called Issue Authority (official church approval) became required before publishing a Scientology book officially (and the book had to be under the copyright of L.Ron Hubbard). Things change radically after the great Exodus/Split in the early 80s. L.Kin was remarkable both because he was anonymous and because he issued a series of four books, which he announced beforehand. In addition it coincided with the beginning of the Internet, so communication1. the consideration and action of impelling an impulse or particle from source point across a distance to receipt point with the intention of bringing into being at the receipt point a duplication and understanding of that which emanated from the source point. (HCOB 5 Apr 73)...more amongst a worldwide community of "escapees" was much better than previously and many of them were very curious!. And one other thing that startled people, even to the extent of making fearful comments, was that it blatantly said on the front page "Scientology" and the Church of Scientology had quite thoroughly instilled into its followers the idea that the word Scientology was trademarked by them and anyone using it without permission was up for the hangman's gallows!

L.Kin Volumes: 1991 to 1996

L Kin Volume 1 – Scientology: More Than A Cult?

All the L.Kin books are the same size; 13 cm x 20.5 cm.
This first L.Kin book is 200 pages long and divided into two parts.
Part One is called "From Crusade to Rip-Off" and concerned itself with the history of Scientology and has the following subheadings; Hubbard's Mission, The Beginning of Scientology, A New View of Man, A Fateful Church, Religious Salesmanship, Sectarianism, and ends with "A "Cleared Planet"?".
Part Two is called "The Principles Unveiled" and has the major subheadings; The "Technologies" of Scientology, The Laws and Mechanisms of Charge, The Key Terms of Auditing, The Rudiments of Life, Ethics and the Dynamics of Life, Gradients of Clearing, (there are subheadings to all these items).
At the end there is a bibliography, HCO Policy Letter of 25th June A.D. 13 (1963) in manuscript/handwriting, and the index.

L Kin Volume 2 – Scientology: A Handbook For Use

The second L.Kin book is 220 pages and again divided into two parts "The Procedures" and "Professional Application".
The first part of this book (which is labelled Part Three), entitled The Procedures contains the the following main parts (each with subsections):
The Training Routines, Auditor And Pc (An Introduction), The Auditor's Tools (Simple Techniques, Objective Processes1. objective processes deal with body motions and observing and touching objects in the auditing room. Anyone can be brought more into present time with objective processes. What I have tried to do in the two volumes of this book is to present a distillation of my experience with scientology, of what I found valid and workable, so that one may be able to freely talk about it without being forced into agreements and conclusions, and without cringing inwardly. This experience has three aspects: that of studying and being auditedThe application of Scientology processes and procedures to someone by a trained auditor. (Dianetics & Scientology Technical Dictionary (C) 1975), that of applying it in my private life, my family and, naturally, my job, and lastly that of having become a member of a movement which I consider vitally important in cultural and humanitarian respects.

When I started to become interested in scientology, it appeared to promise insights into the connectedness between man and his mind3. a network of communications and pictures, energies and masses, which are brought into being by the activities of the thetan versus the physical universe or other thetans. My studies into, and personal experience with, western psychology, eastern philosophy, yoga and meditation were, prior to that, of great importance to me but turned out to have been only preliminaries, for when I finally hit upon scientology, it allowed me, retrospectively, to fully penetrate the earlier disciplines. In the many years I have worked with scientology, I was not alone but with a number o f others at various times, first inside the CofS and than outside, both as an auditor1. one who listens and computes; a Scn practitioner. 2. one who has been trained in the technology of Scn. The reason to write all this down was partly to clear my head of the whole thing at a point where I felt I finally got on top of it, but also because of the realisation that it could well serve a useful purpose in helping others to understand something that is not that easy to grasp from available materials.

Personally I feel it is our joint responsibility to care for the immense achievement that Ron Hubbard’s work represents, and to exhaust all its possibilities. It is the responsibility of all those who feel a mental response to his thoughts. One should not by any means leave this up to the CofS alone. A glance in your daily paper will tell you what results they are getting and how far adrift they are.

L Kin Volume 3 – The Pied Pipers of Heaven: Who calls the tune

Front of L.Kin's third book published in 1994. The complete change of cover and the absence of a division into two volumes caused almost as much speculation as the fact that it dealt with what the church considered highly confidential and dangerous material.

The third book in the series, The Pied Pipers of Heaven: Who Calls the Tune, has 354 pages. It has the following chapters:

observe extra-terrestrial activities and warn the population of this planet of imminent dangers. Within this context, this book adds yet another facet. It’s an attempt to communicate something I consider worthwhile, perhaps with the hope of contributing to desirable global changes. One might say that it concerns itself with a rather specific view of the world — that of Ron Hubbard and his adherents.

Hubbard’s view of the world might be boiled down to the simple statement that planet Earth is in the process of being conquered, colonialized and practically enslaved by extraterrestrial powers since millennia. He is not the only one saying so. To arrive at this conclusion, the main theme of this book, we need to go through four preparatory chapters without which the findings and interpretations of chapter 5, “The Fate of Earth”, would appear incomprehensible and nonsensical. We need to build a runway of sufficient length, as it were, in order to safely take off.

Chapter 1 deals with some fundamentals concerning the spirit, the soul, god and the universe; it incorporates classical as well as esoteric concepts on the subject of psychosomatics and compares them with each other. Chapter 2 deals with the question of scientific truth versus esoteric truth and gives some examples of the myths "natural science" indulges in without really admitting to it. Chapters 3 and four give an account of the history of this universe and centre around the myth of Xenu, a mighty spirit Hubbard identified as controlling the fate of the world. In chapter 5 follows a general interpretation of the data accumulated so far, specifically with reference to the political and cultural position of Earth within this galaxy. Chapter 6, "Defence by Telepathy", shows what has been done and is being done for Earth to escape its fate. Chapter 7 is an attempt to predict some outlines of the future. The appendix contains a glossary of terms as well as notes on the procedures which have led to the findings and results described in chapters 3 to 6.
