It should be noted that the copyright disclaimer of 2007 version shows years 1952, 1988, and 2007. What happened to 1961 and 1968 editions of the book, and whyThat basic outness found which will lead to a recovery of stats. (HCO PL 13 Oct 70 II) the 1952 edition was supposedly used in making improvements to the 2007 edition when Ron Hubbard had already made improvements in later editions under his own name?

There is even a note in Tech Volume I, page 266 (1st Edition – 1976) on “A History of Man” book.

“A History of Man, originally titled What to Audit, is dedicated to Mary Sue Hubbard who helped Ron do the research at Wichita in late 1951, and at Phoenix in 1952. …

A later edition made a few revisions and added in references to Scientology 8-8008, and in some cases substituted “8-8008” for “Technique 88.” ...”

Dedication to Mary Sue Hubbard and references to Scientology 8-8008 do NOT appear in 2007 version.

1952 edition of the book was not available for this review and was found to be unnecessary since 1952 edition should have never been referred to in compiling 2007 edition in the first place, if indeed it was.

1968 edition was written with proper English (British) spelling of the words which is assumed to have been the casethe whole sum of past by-passed charge. (HCOB 19 Aug 63) for 1952 edition as well. Many of the words with British spelling were changed into American spelling (example: “travelling” to “traveling,” “centre” to “center” or “labour” to “labor”) which in itself is a gross alteration of the original presentation of material.

Unlike “Fundamentals of Thought” and some other basic books, “A History of Man” was mainly meant for auditors and was initially released as a limited manuscript titled “WHAT TO AUDIT.” The original book has a disclaimer on the first page stating this fact. The 2007 edition, as with many other things, is missing this disclaimer.

There are a number of places where he emphasizes the use of Scientology 8-8008 in auditingThe application of Scientology processes and procedures to someone by a trained auditor. (Dianetics & Scientology Technical Dictionary (C) 1975). There are no references to Scientology 8-8008 in 2007 edition (see examples below).

[Here again a full sentence was added referencing Technique 80 and Symbological Processing. So psychotics are processed in the same way as more normal people? Doesn't it seem a bit too high of a gradient? Let's see. Go toward the end of this chapter – pages 32 and 33 in 2007 version. The information here has not changed from the 1968 edition where it says:

To Scientologists it has come to mean good feeling, love or friendliness, such as “He was in ARC with his friend.” One does not, however, fall out of ARC, he has an ARC break. (LRH Def. Notes)...more processing which actually makes sense. He never mentions “Symbological Processing” here.]

[Where did this added sentence come from emphasizing Technique 80? (Dianetics & Scientology Technical Dictionary (C) 1975) Transfers?]

Note! The above list is by far not a list of all the differences that can be found in comparing the two books which also include breaking down or combining paragraphs, changing original punctuation, and other alterations. Also, the two sections appended at the end of 2007 (“A Step-by-Step Breakdown of 88” and “Additional Incidents on the Theta1. theta is thought, life force, elan vital, the spirit, the soul, or any other of the numerous definitions it has had for some thousands of years. (SOS, p. 4)...More Line”) were not in 1968 publication. If Ron Hubbard wanted it included in “A History of Man” book, wouldn't he do that in 1968 publication?
